The Kuchars make Hollywood movies in their own distorted and mutated style. Twin brothers, they started making film when they were 12, spoofs on the movies they went to on Saturdays, being influenced by Max Stiener-Warner Bros. and Republics' Detective Movies. They came from the Bronx, used actors from the Bronx, "fat people wh want to be Marilyn Monroe". Their early films were pretty much improvised, The Wet Destruction of the Atlantic Empire (1954), The Naked and the Nude (1956) and Screwball (1957) which was one long love scene with the hero at the end going insane and choking the heroine to death. Later films: The Slasher (1958), the Thief and the Stripper (1959), A Tub Named Desire (1960), I was a Teenage Rumpot (1960) Pussy on a Hot Tin Roof (1961), the plots became more elaborate turning into farcical. The partnership broke up and both continued to make films. Mike Kuchar: Born of the Wild (1961), The PErvert (1963), Sins of the Fleshapoids (1964), Green Desire (1965), the Secret World of Wendle Samson (1966), Madonna (1967). George Kuchar: A Town Called Tempest (1961), A Woman Distressed (1962), Lust for Ecstasy (1963), Anita reeds Me (1963), The Lovers of Eternity (1964), Corruption of the Damned 91965), Leisure (1966), Hold Me While I'm Naked (1966), Mosholu Holiday (19670, Eclipse of the Sun Virgin (1967). In 1975 George Kuchar starred in Kurt McDowells Tundercrack, The Kuchar influence is unmistakable. The story, a typical Hollywood plot of lone travellers caught in a storm, seeking refuge in a house owned by a lonely widow, who has her husband pickled in giant jars and keeps her son locked up because of his giant genital deformities. The divergence in the plot comes in the form of hard-core pornography, straight sex, gay sex, oral sex and masturbation with cucumbers and many mechanical devices. The graphic scenes show every drop of come, every throbbing vein and erect nipple. Shot in black and white definately low budget. The premier of Kurt McDowells laters film Taboo, and 3 shorts has just closed in London. Taboo, shot in black and white, starring Kuchar again, is based on a poem written on a toilet wall
More eperimental than previous films, the direct storyline, rapid cutting and concrete soundtrack composed by Kuchar and McDowell. The action is dull and continues to be so until the last 10 minutes when suddenly the film is cut to a geniuine autopsy. Definately as graphic as his previous use of pornography, the film escalates into surgical porn. The 3 shorts, Ronnie, Nudes and Loads are similar to Warhol in that they appear to be home movies of his friends. Loads is autobiographical detailing McDowells search for straight men to masturbate in front of the camera, leading in many cases to McDowell performing oral sex on them. The end it shows each of them ejaculating, a climax to end all climaxes

and stand close to trains
or cut my eyebrow off.
